The Day After

Today, I'm grateful for

1. Last minute cancellations and deciding to make a Post Thanksgiving Dinner anyway...and that the turkey turned out. Of course, we have lots of turkey left over, considering the smallest one I could find at my grocery store on Wednesday afternoon (when we thought the in-laws were coming) was a 20 pounder! Yepppp. Anyway, it turned out good and much of it is now in the Freezer, but that just means that I have turkey meat available for that next interesting recipe.

2. De-cluttering. What to do when you find yourself with another P.O.D. (aka: Parent on Duty [h/t to Bethany!])? Why, team up to attack some of the stuff that has been AGING you because you haven't been able to get it done. This means, Gentle Reader, that Super J and I tackled the kitchen and literally threw bags of stuff away as we de-cluttered. One of us would hold the baby while the other cooked or went threw the junk drawer or the "art cupboard". The result? A huge blessing: so much counter space I actually have! Who knew? Yay!

3. Leftover from Thanksgiving: Cherry pie and homemade whip cream. Yum. Kinda says it all.

"It’s so easy in life for us to receive blessings, many of them almost uncounted, and have things happen in our lives that can help change our lives, improve our lives, and bring the Spirit into our lives. But we sometimes take them for granted. How grateful we should be for the blessings that the gospel of Jesus Christ brings into our hearts and souls. I would remind all of you that if we’re ever going to show gratitude properly to our Heavenly Father, we should do it with all of our heart, might, mind, and strength—because it was He who gave us life and breath" (David B. Haight, "Were There Not Ten Cleansed?," Ensign, Nov 2002, 24).
